The Pellicle is an artifact found in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Lost Alpha and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, it does not appear in other canon games.

This artifact is so rare that many researchers can't even imagine that such a substance can exist in a natural setting. Emmits acidic chemical components.
- Inventory description, v1.30013 - 1.4005

Born in the 'Witches' Jelly' anomaly. The artifact is so rare that many researchers do not even realize that such a substance can exist under natural conditions. Maintains a constant temperature in a radius of a couple of meters, while the skin becomes less sensitive to high temperatures, and the body is less susceptible to pain from burns. Emits radiation.
- Inventory description, v1.4007

v1.30013 - 1.3003:
  • A de-tuned version of the artifact appearing in the Base Game.
  • Is not given as any form of reward and is not coded to spawn.
  • Inherits the unused parent anomaly cut from the Base Game.
v1.4002 - 1.4005:
  • The artifact has a more detailed property set in these later games.
  • The parent anomaly is retooled to Witches' Jelly from v1.4002..
  • The lack of possible, realistic protection from the predations of such anomalies is unhelpful in exploring these locations.
  • Parameter set is further changed and the artifact now has "fire" abating properties exclusively (apart from emitting radiation)

All versions:
  • One can be found in Pripyat Hotel ("room 27" - east of Ghost), inside a breakable metal container.
v1.30013 - 1.3003:
  • The inclusion of the parent anomaly is a historical holdover from SoC, the only canon S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game where the Pellicle existed.
  • Despite the re-introduction of the parent anomaly Lift back into the game, no naturally occurring specimens have yet been located in the wild.
  • Item is now given as a reward if the player completes An old friend (of Seriy).
  • Will spawn on occasion, but see overview for acquisition difficulties.
  • Loses the +2 bulletproofing..
  • Because of its rejigged "fire protection" - may be very useful in the final shootout at the end of the game.

v13.0013 - 1.4005:
  • Other retooled artifacts such as Mica assist in exploring this artifact's parent anomaly.
