The Brain Scorcher is a minor location which appears in both S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Lost Alpha and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

Overview[]

  • In the released game S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, the entrance to the laboratory controlling the Emitters was within the Monolith Compound and there was no possibility of a truce with the Monolith defenders.
  • For the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Lost Alpha recreation, the lab entrance assumes its old location up in the eastern location of Radar, the later entrance is severely "boarded up", and, if the player is prudent, the Monolith are amenable to bribes which allows free passage.

Notes[]

  • The Brain Scorcher is split into two parts:

The Emitters[]

  • There are five emitter antennae, one of which is out of service.
  • These are easily seen from a distance streaming an impressive display into the atmosphere in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, but this is not apparent in the Lost Alpha with only the 'brain scrambling' apparitions and associated psy damage being inflicted upon any unwary intruders.
  • The Monolithians are, of course, immune to the ravages of the Brain Scorcher.

The Control Laboratory[]

  • Laboratory X10 is the abandoned underground that the player will need to visit in order to deactivate the Brain Scorcher.
  • The layout of the level is altered from the one seen in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl and the opposition is very different.

Trivia[]

  • As mentioned in parts of Main Mission Strategy it is possible to evade certain levels and advance to later levels without turning the Brain Scorcher off. This should only be attempted with rudimentary psy protection unless the player thinks themselves truly super-stalker enough to run through the Radar Badlands as far as the rear of the CNPP gate with no protection at all.
  • In the north corner of the yard can be found 2 abandoned wagons. The first of these has some breakable boxes inside. These yield a bottle of Mineral water, a Medkit, Bandages and a Fort M12. In the other wagon can be found 2 bottles of water, 2 Permanent Meals and a Mossandra wine bottle on a shelf.
